Coaching Accreditation

Each year, the East Perth District, with support from the West Australian Football Commission (WAFC), coordinates a number of Coach Education and Development seminars in order to upskill and improve the overall knowledge base of our District coaches.

A large component of this coaching program revolves around Coach Accreditation, through the AFL Level One and Level Two Coaching Courses. It is a requirement that all East Perth District coaches must be minimum Level One accredited in order to coach at Junior level in 2009.

This year, in conjunction with the WAFC, the East Perth District will be conducting a Women's Level One Coaching Course which will be held at Medibank Stadium on Saturday 14th of March 2009, with a variety of experienced coaches and staff delivering a number of modules.

The Level Two Coaching Course is an advanced accreditation course for those coaches who are looking to advance their own coaching pathway and development. To be eligible for this course, applicants must be Level One accredited (Youth/Senior) for a period of three years, and must have been actively coaching during this time.

The competencies expected of a Level Two coach are clearly defined and reflect the ability to plan, prepare, conduct, review and adapt training and match programs in the context of a yearly plan. A Level Two coach will also meet the needs of individual players and the team employ sports science principles and display a thorough understanding of skill development and team tactics.

This year's Level Two Coaching Course will be held over two days on the 14th and 15th March 2009.
