Round 11 Preview
The Royals will take on second place Subiaco in a must-win game at Medibank Stadium on Saturday to climb back into the top five on the WAFL ladder.
The last time these two clubs met in Round 2 Subiaco proved too strong for East Perth, putting on a strong last-term effort to boot five goals to two, winning the game by 31 points.
Big man Paul Johnson will lead the Royals for the first time in the absence of Kyle Anderson and Craig Wulff. It will be Paul's 99th game for East Perth having played 96 League games and 2 Foxtel Cup matches to date.
Jarrad Oakley Nicholls has been pressing strongly for his spot back in the League team with some impressive showings in the Reserves. Mitch Brown is a welcome inclusion down back. It will be Mitch's first game since 2014 and his first for the Royals since 2013. Young guns Tom Omodei and Mitch Lague are also pushing for selection after impressive starts to the year in our strong Reserves
In Round 2 East Perth let the game slip away after three quarter time. If East Perth can play four consistent quarters of football, they will certainly challenge the Lions, who are already coming off a loss from West Perth last week.
In our previous Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls was the Royals leading goal-kicker with three majors, and ruckmen Jonathon Giles and Paul Johnson were also amongst East Perth’s best with 48 hit outs between them. Dylan Clarke was best on ground for the Lions with 19 disposals, eight inside 50’s and three goals. Leigh Kitchin also racked up 26 possessions.
We have Band X playing in the Members Bar immediately after the game, playing hits from the 70’s through to today. Meals are available for $15 with kids meals $5.
