Media Statement - BCG Recommendations
On Friday the 31st of March the Western Australian Football Commission (WAFC) delivered their recommendations from the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) report to WAFL Club Presidents and Chief Executive Officers. The report has since been made public. The recommendations from BCG are just that, recommendations. The WAFC have committed to a six week period for stakeholder engagement before finalisation.
As stated by the WAFC this is a ‘Once in a generation opportunity to reform the way we administer, structure and align our sport, to ensure that football remains successful and sustainable.’ As such the club will take appropriate time to review the recommendations.
The report states that the WAFC will renew the partnership model until 2021. The reason for this is that the ongoing success of our two WA AFL clubs is vital to the health of football in WA in terms of engagement and financial stability.
East Perth is currently reviewing its position with relation to any extension of the partnering model with the West Coast Eagles. It is the Board’s responsibility to conduct due diligence before any decision is made relating to the partnership. This process has been extended pending the outcome of the review. The Club will finalise its position regarding the partnering model post the 2018 season in the coming weeks.
The Club is reviewing the likely implications of the recommendation that WAFC take control of the Colts competition and will respond in due course.
