Royals Sign Sharp Shooter Simpson

Friday, May 31, 2019 - 2:06 PM

The club is pleased to announce that it has signed key forward Eddie Simpson from Claremont this week. The 22year old,  196cm, 96 kg product from Swanbourne JFC, has been a consistent goal kicker in the Colts and Reserves for Claremont for the past 3 seasons. Simpson played 13 League games between 2017 and 2018 but has not featured in the senior side in 2019 despite leading the goal kicking in the Reserves with 16 goals in 6 matches including a bag of six in Round 1 and 3 goals in both Round 6 and 7.

‘The Club is very excited to have attracted a player like Eddie’ Football Operations Manager Ward Harris said. ‘Key position big men are hard to come by. We were fortunate enough to secure the services of Joel Houghton in the off season and now Simpson adds further depth to our Forward/Ruck stable along with Ajang Ajang and Asher Samelko.’

Simpson will line up in the Reserves this week. Get down to Leederville Oval this Monday for the biggest rivalry in WA footy, the WA Day Derby.

Kids under 16 are free. There are plenty of giveaways and the new Royals Kid Zone. You can also have a kick on the oval at the breaks and in between games.
