The East Perth District has had three girls selected in the inaugural WA Female Football Talent Academy.  Dana Hooker, Courtney Stubbs and Kodie Tanner, all students at John Septimus Roe, were identified as talented players whilst playing in the Smarter than Smoking Schoolgirls Cup Competition, which JSR won.

The WA Female Football Talent Academy is the pinnacle of the talented player pathway in WA and will provide great benefits to squad members, both as a player and a young woman.  Players were selected from youth girls competitions, the Smarter than Smoking Schoolgirls Cup and the WA Women's Football League.

Under the guidance of WA Women's State Coach, Nicole Graves and with the support of the WA Football Commission and the WA Women's Football League the squad of 50 will begin training in October.

The Academy will focus on a number of areas including specific skill work, tactics and game play, diet & nutrition, rehab and recovery, injury management, running technique and leadership skills

The WA Women's state team will be selected from the Talent Academy to compete in the 2009 National AFL Women's Championships which will be held in Perth in June.
