The East Perth Football Club has recruited former premiership mentor and West Coast assistant Tony Micale to coach its League Team for the next three years, with Club President Bronte Howson also recommitting to another term as the Royals look to bounce back from a disappointing season.

Micale, who guided the Royals to a hat-trick of premierships in 2000, 2001 and 2002, said he was delighted to be rejoining East Perth.

“I guess I’m fortunate that there were a number of options open to me,” he said. “But the level of support offered by Bronte and his board gives me every confidence that rejoining East Perth is the right choice.

We had a terrific relationship with the board in my previous term at the Royals and we’ve stayed in contact throughout. The Royals are a proud Club with a great supporter base and a core group of very good players in both the Seniors and Colts,” said Micale. “I’m looking forward to the challenge of taking that group to finals football.”

Mr Howson said Micale was the right man for the job.

“In 1999 we finished second-last and, while circumstances were different at the time, there’s no doubt that Tony’s appointment was a key factor in our success over the following three years,” he said
