The East Perth Football Club would like to announce that Michael Braun will take over as a full time Colt’s coach in 2009.

As well as coaching the Colts, Michael will also work closely with league coach Tony Micale as an assistant coach and as a mentor for players and other coaching staff and will oversee the operations of East Perth's junior development programs. He is joined at the Club by former East Perth/West Coast player and Carlton Premiership player Matt Clape, who will take on an assistants role.

Bronte Howson is keen for the Club to move forward and stated "We're delighted to welcome Michael to the club and look forward to his contribution in working with Tony (Micale), specifically in the area of the development of our juniors and Colts players."

"This is an important investment in the future of our club."

Tony Micale backed up Bronte’s comments by saying

"Michael is a quality individual who has already made an outstanding contribution to football in WA through his record of achievement with the Eagles. I'm really looking forward to working with him."

Braun has indeed made an outstanding contribution to WA football after being drafted with pick 53 in the 1996 national draft. He went on to play 228 games for the West Coast Eagles, was an AFL Rising Star nominee in 1997 &1998, finished Runner-up best and fairest to Guy McKenna in 1999, won their best Clubman award in 2003, was made a life member of the Eagles in 2005 as well as playing in the famous 2006 Premiership victory over the Swans.

With the inclusion of both Michael and Matt to the coaching staff, the East Perth Football Club looks poised to rebound from a disappointing year in 2008.
