East Perth Old Boys Australia Day Classic

Wednesday, February 4, 2015 - 9:27 PM

A group of ex-players, predominantly from the 80's era, have been playing a golf game since 1995. Such luminaries as Michael Christian, Glen Bartlett and Paul Peos have played over the years.

The day is called the EPOB (East Perth Old Boys) Australia Day Classic and has been played across many local Perth courses as well as South West locations such as Bunbury, Dunsborough & Mandurah.

Very simple format: Golf, Races & a pub in Mt Lawley to close!

This year was played at Royal Maylands and involved the following former players, Ian Berry, Richard Dennis, Gavin Hawkins, Trevor Malcolm, Darren Best, Mark Hurley, Bruce Stewart, Mark Blakely, Gavin Howlett, Tom Williams, Steve Da Rui, Alby Smith, John Western, David Bain, Angelo Delborello, Lucio ‘Butch’ Baroni, Mark Shaw and Peter Wright.

This year saw the pairing of David Bain and John Western lift the Cup, commonly known as the 5th Major!

Runners-up were Butch Baroni and Angelo Del Borrello.

The memorial trophy for Jarryd Higgins went to Butch again for longest drive on the first.

Another great day and whilst some of the boys are not quite match fit they have lost none of their abilities off the field!
