Lee and Wulff announced co-captains for a third season, Anderson selected as Vice Captain

Brendan Lee and Craig Wulff have been named East Perth’s co-captains for a third consecutive season, with Kyle Anderson selected as vice captain for 2015.

Coach, Brian Dawson endorsed the leadership qualities of his players.

“Obviously Binga and Wulffy have done the job the last two seasons so we’ve been very happy with them in that role.

“It was an easy choice to have them carry on as long as they were happy to," he said.

The decision was made by the Football Department and was ratified by the Club’s Board ahead of the players' camp last Saturday.

“We’ve rolled the clock back a bit this year, without naming a formal leadership group.

“Instead we’ve got a senior group that runs to about ten players.

“They’ll informally fill that role because of their seniority within the group," Dawson said.

"But we decided to appoint a vice captain, so we went for Kyle Anderson in that role.

“He’s been a very good player for us for a number of years now and certainly he’s identified as a future leader of the football club."

Meanwhile, the players were put through both physical and mental challenges at their annual camp last Saturday, starting at the beach.

“They had to work in small groups with the theme of the morning to work as a team and everyone pull their weight equally and share the load as much as possible.

"It took about two to two a half hours for that and then we came back in the afternoon and spoke about matters relating to football – about our match plan and our match style and those sorts of things," he said.

“The new players from the West Coast list came over and they joined us at about 4:30pm for the last session of the camp day, which was good.

"We did that last year too, there was a meet and greet with the new guys as well as their one to three year players – the ones who played with us a bit last year and may play with us again you would think at some point in 2015.

"It was a good opportunity to catch up with those guys," Dawson said.
