Countdown To The FD Book Medal
The 2015 FD Book Medal promises to be an intriguing one. With the voting system implemented by the coaching staff each player who plays receives a vote ranging from 0-5. This system always ensures a close race and promotes consistent effort throughout the year.
There is a number of players who have performed at a very high standard over the season in the League. Paul Johnson was our highest polling player in the Sandover Medal and continued to show why he is still ranked as the best big man in the competition. 2014 winner Steven Payne had another consistent year getting plenty of the ball playing off a wing. Another ball magnet, Kane Lucas should also poll well.
Garry Moss had his first injury free year since 2011. With a full preseason and a move down back our number 8 found his niche in our formidable back three next to Kyle Anderson and Mitch Fraser.
In the Reserves Tom Shanahan comes to the night fresh off winning the Prendergast Medal for the Best and Fairest Player in the WAFL Reserves. The Reserves had a fantastic year with a number of young, promising players such as Tom Hodgson, Tom Omodei, Mitch Lague and Clayton Giblett stepping up and making their League debuts this year.
The Hec Strempel Medal for the Colts Best and Fairest is always a closely fought contest. Our other award winner so far this year, Stan Wright, who took out the Jack Clarke medal as the Best and Fairest in the Colts competition will face tough competition from the likes of Kobe Chrisp and Mitch Dobson who played every game for the Colts this year as well as Tarir Bayok, Connor De Campo and Alex Di Placido who all played consistently well only missing a handful of games between them.
