Young talent competing in WAFL 16s Carnival

More than 350 of the State’s top emerging footballers are showcasing their talent at the 2018 WAFL 16s Carnival which kicked off last month.

The six-round series of matches concludes on April 14, and following the carnival, the WA State 16s Academy selection panel will develop a list of 50 players to participate in the State 16s trial selection fixture on April 20.

Round 2 Results

THE Grand Finalists of the past four years, Subiaco sent another emphatic message in Round 2 of the 2018 WAFL season with a thumping of South Fremantle while East Perth, Swan Districts and East Fremantle were also victorious.

All four Round 2 matches took place on Saturday afternoon and delivered some fascinating results.

In the end, East Perth beat West Perth 17.10 (112) to 7.12 (54), Swan Districts defeated Peel Thunder 15.12 (102) to 13.10 (88), East Fremantle downed Perth 13.9 (87) to 11.14 (80) and Subiaco won big over South Fremantle 18.12 (120) to 9.8 (62).

Round 2 Match Report – East Perth v West Perth

EAST Perth had a disastrous Round 1 loss but the Royals responded in the best possible way on Saturday beating West Perth by 58 points at Leederville Oval.
 
The Royals couldn’t have had a worse start to the season on Good Friday with a 118-point defeat at the hands of Subiaco in the battle of the Leederville Oval co-tenants.
 
West Perth was also coming off a solid Round 1 victory against Claremont at HBF Arena so the Falcons deserved to be feeling good about their chances in the opening derby of 2018 heading to Leederville Oval on Saturday. Read More [+]

Football Operations Manager Departs

East Perth’s long-standing Football Operations Manager has resigned after nine and a half years to take up the Chief Executive Officer position at the Willeton Basketball Association.

A former League and State football player at East Fremantle, Mark came to the club at the conclusion of the 2008 season under the recommendation of Tony Micale.
