2022 Pre-Season Update

Friday, February 4, 2022 - 4:57 PM

The 2022 Pre-Season is well underway at the East Perth Football Club as the players prepare for Round 1 vs. Swan Districts on Easter Weekend.

We’ve had a number of players depart the club and we’ve added some fresh new faces both in the playing and coaching ranks which has added much excitement within the group.

The boys officially started the 2022 campaign back in November with a 5 week pre-Christmas training block focussed on skills, hard running and plenty of time in the gym. After a well-earned holiday break, we returned to the club on 10th January and sights are firmly focussed on improvement after a disappointing 2021 Season.

On the injury front, there are a number of players working their way through rehab including Jackson Ramsay who is progressing well after surgery in the off-season and is working to be ready for Round 1. Bradley Fullgrabe had off-season wrist surgery and is likely to join the main group in the next fortnight while fellow defender Jordan Hayden continues to make strides in his recovery from knee surgery after going down in Round 3 2021. Exciting forward Sebit Kuek sustained a finger injury early in the preseason, but is getting plenty of km’s into his legs and will be ready to play when games come around.

There are plenty of players impressing on the track including Busselton’s Damon Greaves who has returned to the club after 3 years at Hawthorn and looks poised for a big year a WAFL level. The versatile defender brings great work-ethic and character to the club and his high training standards and preparation have impressed those around him. Another of Busselton’s best is ruckman Scott Jones who is in career best shape having put a huge emphasis on diet and conditioning over the off-season as he aims for a big year leading the ruck.

Reigning F.D. Book Medal Winner Christian Ameduri continues to improve and drive standards within the group while players like Jacob Msando, Kye Willcocks, Angus Schumacher and Angus Scott have all had really solid pre-seasons. Youngster Adam Boules, who played one League game in 2021 has put in a mountain of work with the aim of playing a role at League level in 2022 while fellow youngsters Jack Cooley, Sam Van Diemen and Kade Dittmar have been training well.

The new recruits to the club continue to integrate and have all added value in their short time in the squad. Hamish Brayshaw has brought great work ethic and leadership qualities to the group over the preseason and Tom Wallis is working hard to get his body into WAFL shape after a stint in quarantine over the Christmas break. Kyle Hamersley, Thomas Medhat and Gordon Narrier are all settling in well after joining in the last fortnight.

There is still plenty of work to be done but the season isn’t too far away and the squad focus continues to be directed towards being physically and mentally prepared for Round 1 and the season ahead and making the improvements necessary to play finals in 2022.
