McQueen To Lead Royals
Six-time Premiership Coach Ross McQueen has been appointed the East Perth Football Club Coach.
Ross has accepted a two-year contract until the end of the 2024 season.
After carving out an impressive record with the Claremont Colts and Reserves as well as coaching and assisting numerous State sides, McQueen came to the Club in 2021 as a Senior Assistant Coach and was Interim Coach for the last two matches of the 2022 season.
“We are excited to announce Ross as our 46th Head Coach” CEO Dean Turner said.
“What impressed us (the selection panel) was his clear and direct communication skills, composure under pressure and all-round demeanour around the group and throughout the selection process.”
“The support behind Ross from the players and football staff was extraordinary.”
“This gives us all great confidence that Ross will be able to pick up the ball and run with it, which will give us the best opportunity for success next year and beyond”
The selection panel comprised of President Bronte Howson, CEO Dean Turner, Coaching Director Tony Micale and Football Manager Warren Parker interviewed seven candidates.
“We were fortunate to have several impressive candidates go through our selection process.” Mr Turner commented
“It was important to us not to rush or take any shortcuts. The weight of this decision was not lost on us, the process we went through was thorough and we are all excited to see the direction Ross will take the Club in.”
“I am honoured to be given this opportunity to lead this great club for the next two years and wish to thank Bronte and the Board for their support.” New Coach Ross McQueen said.
“East Perth is a powerhouse of WA football and I look forward to digging in and doing everything I can for the Royals to climb back up the WAFL ladder.”
