Four Royals Named in WAFL State Squad
Paul Johnson, Brendan Lee, Steven Payne and Kyle Anderson have been selected in the initial State squad for the 2015 WAFL v SANFL game on Saturday, May 23 at Lathlain Park. A curtain raiser between the WAFL and SANFL State 18s will be played at 11.20am featuring our very own Sam Powell-Pepper, Tarir Bayok and Ajang Ajang.
Johnson and Lee played together in the 2013 WA State side whilst Payne and Anderson will be looking to make their debut for the black and gold in just two weeks time. The Royals have had a steady start to the season with 3 wins and 3 losses but statistics suggest they should be much further up the ladder than they currently sit. Out of the nine WAFL sides, East Perth have recorded the most kicks (260), handballs (184), disposals (432) and marks (154) so far this season. The premiership runners-up from 2014 will be looking to convert these stats into competition points as the season unfolds and with four players exposed to representative football, the team will only grow stronger.
